Oceans

Oceans (Where Feet May Fail)
Verse 1
You call me out upon the waters
The great unknown where feet may fail
And there I find You in the mystery
In oceans deep my faith will stand
Chorus 1
And I will call upon Your name
And keep my eyes above the waves
When oceans rise
My soul will rest in Your embrace
For I am Yours and You are mine
Verse 2
Your grace abounds in deepest waters
Your sov’reign hand will be my guide
Where feet may fail and fear surrounds me
You’ve never failed and You won’t start now
Bridge
Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders
Let me walk upon the waters
Wherever You would call me
Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander
And my faith will be made stronger
In the presence of my Saviour
Chorus 2
I will call upon Your name
Keep my eyes above the waves
My soul will rest in Your embrace
I am Yours and You are mine

My thoughts

The water (a puddle, a pond, a beautiful stream, a lake, a river, or an ocean) can be scary. Did you know Oceans depth can average (12,080 feet) (https://oceanservice.noaa.gov/facts/oceandepth.html). Ok, back to my thoughts.

It’s God who is calls us to step out, to do something for Him. It may feel like the great unknown. Remember, when it’s unknown, we are prone to fail, and if we are honest, like me, more often than not we do fail. Here is where we should be seeking God’s Word to help us understand the unknown. What are your great unknowns?

Calling on God to help us, to help us to keep our eyes above the waves/circumstances to see above the fray. Waves can be intimidating, and we can be overcome by them if we aren’t careful. Water/waves clouds your eyes, and hinders your breathing, which then impact your ability to function. Allow God to embrace you! Allow Him to clear the water and waves so you can see clearer

Remember the ocean depth, there is no depth of circumstance, struggle, or failures that keeps us from God’s grace. Be honest, we fail often, and we allow fear to take over, yet He is there waiting, There are no limits to His grace. Allow the sovereign hand of God to guide you. We will fail, but He never fails, never.

It will feel overwhelming when we ask God to take us “…deep than our feet have ever wondered…”, It’s like praying for patience, but don’t be afraid to ask the Holy Spirit to do the guiding, increase your trust in God.

Going deeper than ever before can be spiritually, mentally, and/or physically draining. We can hinder our progress, our faith-walk, our willingness to step out on the water. I’m thinking of Peter when Jesus first called him to walk out of the boat onto the water-in the middle of the lake. When Peter faltered, when he saw the strong wind and waves (Matthew 14:27-31).

Going deeper, while relying on God, helps our faith to be stronger.
Spend some time listening to the song again, personalize it to you.
Identify the ocean(s) you are in, or about to enter into?
How is your faith?
Have you called out to God?
Are you trusting Him to help you?
Are you following the lead of the Holy Spirit?

Declare – “I am Your’s God.” And that “You are who I will trust, I will seek”

Go ahead and step out. Make a splash and allow God to show the way.
